As an ethical business, at Satis Education we are committed to supporting the delivery of a world class education for every child regardless of background or ability. We achieve our mission by working in partnership with clients, and also supporting our staff to focus on three core areas:

1.  Social mobility

We will achieve this by donating a percentage of our annual profits to support one-off grants to children and young people from vulnerable groups*. Grants cover items such as:

  • School trips

  • Books and resources

  • Visits to universities and colleges

  • Costs associated with interviews for work and apprenticeships

2.  Sustained improvement

We will achieve this by encouraging every Satis Education staff member to volunteer. All staff are entitled to six days per year paid leave of absence to undertake voluntary duties for not-for-profit organisations. This includes activities such as:

  • School governance

  • Leading youth groups or sports clubs

  • Charity trusteeship

  • Mentoring projects

3.  Personal and professional development

We will achieve this by providing work experience placements to local students, with transport and subsistence costs covered for young people from vulnerable groups. This helps young people to develop key skills in relation to:

  • Communication

  • Teamwork

  • Problem-solving

  • Initiative and enterprise

  • Self-management

*For the purposes of awarding grants vulnerable groups are classified as:

  • Learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)/Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD)

  • Looked after children

  • Children and young people living in poverty

  • Excluded pupils, and those at risk of exclusion

  • Pupils with behaviour and attendance issues

  • Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils

  • Asylum seekers, refugees and new migrants

  • Young carers

  • Young offenders

  • Young people with mental health issues and medical needs

  • Young people not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)

  • Teenage parents
